                Barbara J. Nickerson 95,                 

  August 2, 1923 ~ January 23, 2019  


 Barbara J. Nickerson, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Settlers Place in La Porte, Indiana.

She was born August 2, 1923 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the daughter of Robert Reese and Marie (Rice) Reese.

Barbara was a teacher at the Rolling Prairie Elementary School for 28 years. She was a life long resident of the Rolling Prairie area and was a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Lionettes, Indiana Retired Teachers Assoc., and the National Education Assoc. 

On March 25, 1943 in New Carlisle, Indiana, she married Robert Louis Nickerson who preceded her in death February 10, 2007.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Webb of La Porte, IN, Dottie (Jim) Davis of La Porte, IN; son, Terry (Joann) Nickerson of Rolling Prairie, IN; Seven Grandchildren, Kathryn Austin, David Armstrong, Tonya Nickerson, Troy Nickerson, Amanda Davis, Sarah Huff, Andrew Davis and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister, Dorothy Wheatbrook.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Family will receive friends Monday, January 28, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, 3444 E. US Highway 20, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371. A life celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, 3444 E. US Highway 20, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371.

 Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Corbin 

June 4, 1926 - February 11, 2019 


Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Corbin, 92, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at LaPorte Hospital in

 La Porte IN.

She was born June 4, 1926 in Paoli, Indiana, the daughter of Haskell Osborn and Lillie (Girdley) Osborn.

Betty was an elementary teacher for Rolling Prairie school system for 32 years. Upon her retirement, she took on many kinds of crafting such as, quilting, cross stitching, doll making, and oil painting. Other than crafting, she loved traveling with her husband and spent many years traveling to northern Minnesota with him. 

On May 10, 1947, in Indianapolis Indiana, she married William W. Corbin who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Kay (Steve) Everingham of Rolling Prairie, IN, Peggy Ann (Jeff) Webb of Cape Coral, FL, Connie Sue (Jeff) Smith of La Porte, IN; son, Mike (Sue) Corbin of Port Washington, WI; eight grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. 

Elizabeth was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Robert Osborn.

A life celebration will be held at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, Saturday February 16, 2019 at 11:30 am with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating.

 Duane F. Williamson

 Nov1, 1923 - February 22, 2019 


 Duane F. Williamson passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN, following an illness. He was 95 years of age at the time of his death.
Duane was born November 1, 1923 in Hampshire, IL to the late William H. and Iva E. (Beard) Williamson and lived in rural Rolling Prairie for most of his life. 
On June 17, 1945 in Rolling Prairie, he was married to Donna Halter, who preceded him in death along with his parents; daughter, Gail Hull; three brothers, Ellis, Wilbur and Lee; and one sister, Ellen Ritzler.
He is survived by one daughter, Wendy (Mike Kulusa) Blair of Rolling Prairie; three grandchildren, Michelle (Kris) Rannells of Hamlet, Mathew (Tia) Blair of Rolling Prairie and Donna Hull of LaPorte; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Blair, Brittnie Rannells, Makenna Blair, Kara Blair, Tessa Blair and Erik Paniccia; and one great-great-granddaughter, Emilie Blair.
Duane was a retired supervisor who worked hard his entire life building roads throughout Indiana for the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a former superintendent for the LaPorte County Highway, a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church and the LaPorte County Republican Men’s Community. He loved building things, gardening, playing cards and talking about both politics and anything Abraham Lincoln.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. CST at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CST. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel is handling arrangements.
